Wednesday 25th June - Oban to Edinburgh

At breakfast, I told the owner that I hadn't been able to connect to their WiFi service. He offered to look into it but we needed to get away for our boat trip.

The boat trip was due to leave at 10:45am. It's just as well that we allowed plenty of time to get there because we had a lot of trouble finding it. It left from a small town about 15 miles south of Oban.

The crew consisted of the owner (very English) and an assistant (her English was not good). The trip consisted of a 3-hour journey out among the nearby islands to admire the scenery and to look for wildlife.

The scenery was harder to see because of the rain and mist. However, when we reached the farthest point of our journey out to sea, the sun came out for a while. We saw quite a few birds including eagles, a few seals but no whales, dolphins or porpoises.

Overall, the trip wasn't as good as we had hoped. The weather did not help but perhaps the biggest problem was the amateurishness of the crew.

After the boat trip, we had to go back to the B&B because I'd forgotten to give them back our room key. We did not have much time to get to Edinburgh, so we bought some sandwiches for lunch at a petrol station.

The drive to Edinburgh was challenging because of the rain. We reached Steph's street at about 6pm and helped her take some of her gear to a friend's house. Then we found a restaurant close to her place for dinner.

Back at our hotel (Holiday Inn Express City Centre), we managed to get the USB modem working with information that Nicky had obtained for us today from Vodafone.
