After breakfast, we decided to go first to the tourist information centre near Conway Castle.
On the way, Suzy spotted a shoe shop and she went in the try on some walking shoes. I ended up trying some too. Mine were OK but Suzy wasn't happy with hers.
We found an outdoor shop across the road and went in to look at their shoes. I found a pair I liked. Suzy found two pairs that were possibilities and spent some time (actually a long time) deciding which pair she preferred.
It was about 11:30 before we got to the information centre where they gave us useful maps and advice. We headed back to the B&B, collected our washing, drove to the laundry to leave our accumulating washing and drove to Carnarvon.
The castle at Carnarvon was big and impressive but we preferred previous castles we had seen such as Raglan and Blenheim castles. At Carnarvon, they had a very informative 25 minute film that gave a good run-down on the history of the castle.
After lunch at a cafe near the castle, we drove inland to Llanberis and took photos of the lake. There are a couple of tourist trains from Llanberis - one to Mount Snowden and the other along the lake. We decided not to go on the train to Mount Snowden because of the cloud cover and we decided not to wait for the next train along the lake.
We drove to Llandudno which is a town on a peninsula north of Conway. We noticed a fair on a pier and started walking along it. We then realised that the pier went on almost forever - it was probably almost 1km long. It gave us good views back to the town.
Llandudno is quite a large town with a busy shopping area and several supermarkets. Suzy said it resembles Brighton. I've never been to Brighton, but it reminded me of Via Reggio on the Mediterranean coast of Tuscany.
After visiting the pier, we walked to the other side of the peninsula (about 1.5km) and back to the car. We got back to Conway at about 5:45pm.
For dinner, we went to Amelia's - a restaurant about a block away from the B&B. Colin, our B&B host, had recommended it and we could see why - the food was very good.
Colin said that other guests had not been able to connect to the B&B's WiFi internet access either. At least I had the advantage of being able to use the USB modem.
